Is Google losing its grip in Australia?
by sandman6210 ~ February 14th, 2006. Filed under: seo & search.In Australia MSN is promoted quite highly with the Nine TV network, and now with the Seven TV network in cahoots with Yahoo & promoting it like crazy on TV…. where does that leave Google here?
After watching our coverage of the Winter Olympics, it got me thinking that Google might lose its grip in Australia.
There has been a fair bit of Nine MSN & Yahoo Seven promotion on the TV. At the end of each Nine or Seven produced show they promote MSN & Yahoo. The TV Guides are promoting them too.
Then there are the sports! Looks at all the rights of major sporting events that are being haggled… each with pretty heavy promotion of MSN & Yahoo. The cricket, tennis, winter olympics, commonwealth games, football, rugby… you name it. Each one of them bearing the MSN or Yahoo branding associated with the TV network that owns their rights.
Now with MSN & Yahoo providing updates of all these sporting events associated with their respective TV stations here, there are going to be more people using them as a homepage & using their search.
Be interesting to see how that pans out. Would love to watch stats on it.
